VP Engineering
What you will own.
Lead engineering execution across software, hardware, testing and production. Own delivery plans, dependencies, configuration control and program risks.
This role is part of our next phase. We welcome expressions of interest as the program develops.
What we expect from you.
- Demonstrate delivery leadership across hardware and software, with specific examples of improving reliability or predictability.
- Stay close enough to the engineering details to challenge estimates, resolve blocked interfaces and make resource trade-offs with the CTO.
What you will do.
- Turn product priorities into integrated delivery plans across software, electronics, mechanical work and verification.
- Expose dependencies, staffing gaps and long-lead components early; agree scope changes rather than hide schedule risk.
- Establish lightweight engineering reviews, release ownership and configuration control that a small team can maintain.
- Develop technical leads and coordinate handovers from prototypes to repeatable builds and partner integration.
What you bring.
- Built or led a mixed hardware/software engineering team through a significant delivery milestone.
- Hardware iteration, BOMs, DFM/DFT and software delivery practices.
- Code review, CI/CD, configuration management and cross-team planning.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and engineering risk management.
Useful, not essential.
- UAV, aerospace or automotive experience.
- Familiarity with environmental testing and safety-critical development processes.
What good looks like.
- A shared delivery baseline covering owners, dependencies, verification gates and the highest program risks.
- A release and review process that catches integration issues before they become field-test failures.
A conversation about your work.
Describe a mixed hardware/software delivery that was slipping. Which constraints did you uncover and how did your decisions change the outcome?
Use a non-confidential example. We care about your own contribution, the decisions you made and the evidence behind the outcome.
We are an early-stage, founder-led company. Expect hands-on work, changing priorities and direct responsibility for a clearly defined area. Write down decisions, raise risks early and distinguish demonstrated results from assumptions.
The experience range is a guide to scope and independence. Equivalent practical experience is welcome; required professional authorizations still apply. Hiring phases describe our plan, not 58 immediate openings. Location, employment terms and any role-specific access or field requirements are discussed before an offer.
